Canadian driver Rusty Wyatt wins the 2024 H2O F1 Powerboat on Lake Toba

JAKARTA – Canadian rider Rusty Wyatt from Team Sharjah overtook Erik Stark from Team Victory to win F1 motorboat Lake Toba 2024 at Mulia Raja Napitupulu Port, Balige, Toba Regency, North Sumatra, Sunday (3/3).

Wyatt appeared trendy throughout the race, even though he started the race in third position behind Jonas Andersson (Team Binh Dinh – Viet Nam) and Erik Stark.

The race started at 11:15 WIB and ended at 12:00 WIB, having been preceded by an opening ceremony at 10:20 WIB.

The overtaking started on the first lap, between Andersson and Stark who were in first and second positions.

The two collided on a sharp turn on a 2,218-kilometer harbor runway.

Andersson, who was F1 Powerboat world champion last season, seemed unwilling to be overtaken by Stark.

Andersson, who was driving a red ultra-fast motorboat with boat number 1, overtook Stark again on a straight track. However, in the final two laps both riders were not allowed to pass Wyatt.

Wyatt, who has just been signed by the Sharjah Powerboat Team in 2024, is closely following the two riders. Ultimately, Wyatt was able to edge out both and emerge victorious in the opening F1 Powerboat heat which lasted for 45 minutes.

Wyatt was 0.973 seconds faster than Stark and 1 minute 0.67 seconds faster than Andersson, and managed to complete 30 laps.

Especially for Stark, this year's Lake Toba series, he returned to the podium. In fact, the Victory Team driver improved his results by taking second place after third place the previous year. Meanwhile, the winner in the best team category was the Sharjah team.

This year's final race is titled Pertamina Indonesia Grand Prix – F1 Powerboat Lake Toba 2024 and was initially expected to feature 18 racers from nine teams and 10 countries.

However, according to data from F1H2O Racing, driver Ahmad Al Fahim of the Victory team did not participate in all the racing processes of the Lake Toba Series this year. After the 2024 Lake Toba series, the race will continue with the next series in Vietnam.
