Canadian Olympic medalist Elvis Stojko to guest star on CBC comedy 'One More Time'

EXCLUSIVE: Elvis Stojko, two-time Canadian Olympic medalist, to guest star in CBC comedy Once again.

We first see the popular figure skater, who will appear in the seventh episode of the Counterfeit Pictures series. The EP titled 'Lazer Blade' will be released on Tuesday February 20 as well as on the CBC Gem streamer.

Stojko will play alongside star DJ Demers (Tonight's show) in a workplace comedy, in which the hearing-impaired manager of a used sporting goods store, Demers, leads a team of “enthusiastic” employees.

The figure skater won two consecutive Olympic silver medals in Lillehammer in 1994 and Nagano in 1998, as well as three world titles and seven national titles (1994, 1996-2000, 2002). He was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2011.

“Elvis Stojko is a Canadian icon and a huge part of my childhood – which is crazy because he doesn't even look that much older than me. Man ages like good wine,” Demers said. “Having him guest star on the show was a real treat. The cast and writers were delighted when he agreed to join the film. The episode is definitely one of my favorites this season.

Demers joins Once again by Geri Hall (Astrid and Lilly save the world, this hour is 22 minutes long), Daniel Beirne (Ginny and Georgia, working moms, Fargo); Elise Bauman (Carmilla, working mom, newcomer Seran Sathiyaseelan; and Dayton Sinkia (Letterkenny, Suspense).

Active executive producer Once again are Dan Bennett, Shane Corkery and Anton Leo for Counterfeit Pictures, as well as DJ Demers. Jessie Gabe is executive producer and showrunner. Dane Clark and Melanie Orr are co-executive producers, Martina Monro co-producer and Colin Brunton producer. The first season's directors were Melanie Orr, Cory Bowles, Jessie Gabe and Yael Staav. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Entertainment, Factual and Sports; Trish Williams is executive director of scripted content; Sandra Picheca is director of current production, comedy and scripted content at CBC and Greig Dymond is general manager in charge of production.
