Taryck explains coach's message before Canada vs. Mali match at GBT

Surabaya (ANTARA) – Canadian national team player Taryck Tahid revealed a message from his coach to keep fighting and not give up against Mali in the preliminary match of Group B for the U-17 World Cup, which took place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium. (GBT) Surabaya.

“He said, keep fighting, don't give up. A lot of people say we won't play 100 percent, but in this game we will play 100 percent,” he said Wednesday after training in Gelora on November 10, Surabaya.

The player from the Canadian League 1 club, Vancouver FC, therefore still has the hope of beating Mali and qualifying from the preliminary round of Group B.

“We have a lot of hope, we hope to beat Mali and move on to the next round,” he said.

Meanwhile, Canada coach Andrew Olivieri said the match against Mali would be very difficult but his team had prepared everything before leaving for Surabaya.

“We prepared well before arriving here and we know how difficult this match will be. Now we have to play it in conditions where we have to win,” he said.

According to him, the team's victory will influence his team's playing mindset and certain decisions will have to be taken during the match.

“It will affect our mindset and as the match goes on we will have to make some decisions,” Andrew said.

Previously, the Canadian national team had to lose to Uzbekistan with a score of 0-3 in their second match at Manahan Stadium, Solo.

Thanks to Mba Richard Chukwu's own goal in the 22nd minute and Amirbek Saidov's two goals in the 24th and 80th minutes, Uzbekistan collected their first full points in the U-17 World Cup.

In the provisional ranking, the Canadian national team occupies last place and has not won at all for two matches.

Meanwhile, their opponent, the Mali national team, is in 2nd place with a total of three points, also from two matches.
