Pig living in several regions of Indonesia have detected the African swine fever (ASF) virus or African swine fever. So far, the swine flu virus has been detected on Batam Island, Singkawang and a number of other areas.

Apart from these issues, it is known that Indonesia itself is not among the meat-producing countries in the world because the majority of the population does not consume this type of meat. Which countries produce the most pork?

Launched from the Statista page, Tuesday (16/5/2023), China is the largest pork producing country in the world. By 2023, global pork production is led by China, which is expected to produce over 50 million metric tons.

This amount represents almost half of the total global pork production which is estimated at 114.35 million metric tonnes.

Beyond that, the estimated amount of pork production in 2024 is expected to increase from the previous year. Because in 2022, global pork production was recorded at over 113.26 million metric tons.

This is due to an increase in the amount of pork production in most producing countries, including the European Union, United States, Brazil, Canada and Mexico.
