Two of Putin’s children face Canadian sanctions

There are 14 Russians on Canada’s sanctions list, including two daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Tuesday (19/4) the local time.

Earlier this month, the United States and Britain also announced sanctions against Putin’s daughters, Katerina Vladimirovna Tikhonova and Maria Vladimirovna Vorontsova, who are suspected of hiding Putin’s wealth. Sanctions include confiscation of assets and travel bans.

Russia attacked its neighbors in late February over Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreement, first signed in 2014.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral nation that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. kyiv insists Russia’s attack is completely unjustified and denies claims it plans to take over the two republics by force.
