Lately there have been a lot of questions on Twitter fraud under cover of job offers. Fraud victims claim to have lost Rp. 21 million.

The incident began with a job offer he received from WhatsApp which he received on May 1, 2023. The sender of the message claimed to be from an advertising and marketing partner media company that owns branches in the United States, Canada and several other countries.

The proposed work is to improve video performance on YouTube by providing like And subscribe. There will be 20 tasks like And subscribe every day and every time you complete three tasks, you will receive a bonus of IDR 15,000 which is paid directly into your bank account.

After saying yes, the victim was immediately invited to the Telegram group. In the Telegram group there are more than 300 members.

After working on several tasks, the victim actually gets the bonuses mentioned at the beginning. Therefore, he did not suspect this company.

Until finally there is such a thing as an improvement task. In the leveling task, participants are asked to lift transaction rate In website crypto per deposit. The deposit will be paid with rewards which is obtained at the end.

You can also choose a nominal amount, from IDR 300-500,000 with a 20% reward. The victim also followed him as other group participants also did the same. And of course, deposit and reward-it can be taken immediately after completing the task.

However, as the task increases, the victim is prompted to make a deposit with an even higher nominal. The victim admitted to having made deposits ranging from IDR 2.5 to 14.7 million. Because they had deposited a large sum, the victim was placed in the “VIP” group on Telegram.

However, after making a deposit of Rp. 14.7 million, the victim was asked to deposit another Rp. 30 million as a “final task” before taking the results of the deposit and the bonus. If there is no deposit, the money that has been deposited cannot be withdrawn.

Feeling aggrieved, the victim reported to the local police and blocked a number of accounts used by the fraudster. For information, as of May 1, 2023, there are more than 300 members in the Telegram group. On the morning of May 2, 2023, membership dropped to 250 and increased again to around 330.

“That means, early in the day, the process of moving potential victims to the VIP group, and they put new potential victims into a large group to be trapped again and given small changes to build trust” , tweeted the victim.

Since May 9, 2023, local police investigators have been assigned to investigate this case. The victim will continue to report to Depok Metro Police next Monday. To date (10/5), the thread has been viewed 6.4 million times with 9,421 retweets, 21,100 likes and 4,536 bookmarks.
