Immigration rewards agents who arrest Interpol fugitives

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim presented awards to 16 immigration officers from the TPI Denpasar Class I Immigration Office and the TPI Ngurah Rai Special Class I Immigration Office from Bali, who successfully apprehended the Interpol fugitives.

The Interpol fugitive comes from Canada with the initials SG. The fugitive is suspected of criminal acts of counterfeiting and fraud in Canada.

“The General Directorate of Immigration appreciates the performance of the members of Immigration who succeeded in securing the foreign nationals subject to the Interpol “Red Notice” and the good cooperation between Immigration, the Polri and the NCB Interpol to secure these international fugitives,” Silmy said, confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta, Sunday.

He hopes that the award will boost the motivation of relevant immigration officers and the ranks of immigration officers so that they are more motivated to eradicate transnational crime.

Silmy added that SG’s arrest began when he was contacted by Canadian government officials regarding the subject’s Canadian citizenship. red notice who has been living in Indonesia for three years. The foreigner has committed a criminal offense in his country.

SG was subsequently arrested by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) during immigration patrol activities on the orders of the Director General of Immigration on 19 May 2023 in a villa in the Canggu region, north of Kuta.

“Indonesia is not a place to escape or seek refuge for foreigners fleeing from abroad. We will continue to operate on submissive foreigners red notice who live in Indonesia,” he said.

On May 31, 2023, Ngurah Rai Immigration coordinated with the Canadian Embassy in Indonesia to process SG’s deportation. The deportation took place on Sunday, June 4, 2023 via the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

IGCS is Interpol’s global communications network that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “The Directorate General of Immigration continues to improve the security system at the crossing so that surveillance of foreign nationals is more effective and efficient,” Silmy said.
