From the Moabite king Eglon stabbed to death on his throne in 1200 BC to the assassination of several presidents and prime ministers. And, perhaps long before that, political leaders had been assassinated for various reasons.

Assassinations can be motivated by religious, ideological, political or military reasons, but the end result is the targeted assassination of public figures, those we know well or love.

Here are 8 famous assassinations of the most famous and beloved political leaders and the locations where they were killed.
